  1. Turn on guest network:

In order to enable the guest network the router’s management interface is to be connected. This can be easily done by the browser that is opened in the default IP address of the router. It is essential to have an SSID for 2.4GHz band or 5GHz for dual band routers if the visitors want to get connected to both the networks. The routers can be created with a guest SSID name to enable guest network usage with the router.

  1. Resources to protect the password:

The network resources that are shared are to be protected with passwords. The network and sharing center can facilitate the passwords to the share folders with advanced settings. It is required to turn on the radio button provided for protected share in the all network option. This setting will require the setting that enables the folders and file access with user name and password.

  1. Guest accounts creation on devices:

It is a better idea to create guest accounts to deny the usage of devices without the permission of the administrator. It can be done with the usage of the control panel. There are facilities to delete stored passwords or used passwords in cloud. It is suggested to clear all the caches from the browsers on the machines.

  1. Dual band routers and Two SSIDs for each band:

Many people don’t use the dual-band routers. They will be operated with two bands simultaneously that is separate networks can be chosen for each band to connect the devices to them. 5GHz band will be more robust to 2.4GHz band. The SSID can be edited in the wireless settings as per our requirement from the router’s management interface.

  1. Enable the QoS:

The Quality of Service is a feature that is used to prioritize the data traffic of different data types. These QoS rules are to be adjusted manually. It is enabled in a router’s management interface where it settings vary from router to router. It can enhance the performance that includes Wi-Fi multimedia and control on bandwidth.

This tool enables the network accessed by the guests to deny or else allow the network MAC address that is specified by the administrators. This filter will enable the access the devices you want on the MAC address.

  1. DHCP setting:  DHCP client range will restrict the number of devices that are connected to the networks. As this DHCP will assign the IP address automatically to get connected to any device it is better to set it to be in a preferred range.
